Although I have always had a love affair with wood I came late to the art of woodworking and making beautiful pieces from such a tactile substance. To me there is nothing quite like the feel and scent of a freshly worked piece of wood. Perhaps being largely self-taught has given me an appreciation I might not otherwise have had for this medium as I have had to take my time and study all aspects of the particular wood I am using at the time. This, together with a love for the beauty of nature around us, has led me to ensure that all the timber I use is from sustainable sources or is recycled (mainly from pallets).
While I am always designing pieces for myself, my real enjoyment comes from collaborating with clients on custom-made pieces which they have had a great amount of input on. I feel that I am bringing something to life for them which they and their descendants will cherish forever.
Visitors to the studio are welcome at any time but it is best to call ahead as due to the nature of the area we live in, we are not always in. It's much too easy to go off on a beach-combing trip looking for walking stick material or driftwood or shells or just going for a walk or bike ride.
