Verse & Vision 2009

Opening Night: Wednesday, OCTOBER 21st, 2009

Reserve this date for CVAC's Gala Opening of Verse & Vision 2009 at the Cowichan Theatre's TELUS LOBBY.

Verse and Vision poetry and artwork Doors open at 6 p.m. for Viewing and Refreshments.

This is your cordial invitation to attend and meet the Poets and Artists who together made this display a reality.

View local Artists' interpretations of over 80 poems by local Poets then, cast your ballot for Favourite Poem and for Best Artist's Interpretation of a poem.

Listen to poets' readings of choice poems at 7 p.m.

Awards will be presented, after ballot counting, about 8:30. Doors close at 9 p.m.

Show runs from Wednesday, October 21 to Saturday, November 14.

See the Verse & Vision Show in the Lobby when attending Cowichan Theatre performances and during the Special Viewings noted below.

Special Viewings: 12:00--4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 24, 31 , Nov. 7 and 14.

Verse & Vision 2009 Poetry book and Artwork are available for sale. Prices will be noted on the information cards near each work.


Heads Up!.. for Verse & Vision Artists
Please note these important deadlines.
Artists entering work in the October 21st Gala Verse & Vision Show MUST deliver their labelled art to the TELUS LOBBY between 12-2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19th to ensure the volunteers time to hang/place their work for the Oct. 21st Gala event. No late arrivals, please!

Please note that after the 4 weekend viewings, the artwork MUST be picked up between 10-12 a.m. on Monday, November 16th, 2009. Delays will cause real hardship since the location will be given to another group at noon that day. There will be a $10.00 charge for any late pick-ups.

After a 2 year gap, Verse & Vision 2009
Brings together 2 separate artistic forms, poetry and art,
in an unusual and intriguing way
Poems interpreted by local artists
in various media,
including watercolour, oils, acrylics, pottery, fabric
photography.

Poems will be published in book form and will be available for sale at the show’s opening in October.
