Ruth Steeves
The faeries came to my garden last night I saw them, I'll have you know They danced and pranced in the silvery light Cast by a half moon's glow. One wore a bluebell on his head, another a rose petal bonnet Some wore a circlet of heather and fern with a ribbon trailing from it. Their laughter drifted across the lawn, borne by a vagrant breeze I watched, transfixed, as they frolicked 'til dawn An evening of magic to seize. No doubt you'll think me slightly fey, but I vow I saw them and so, I'll set out some mead to welcome the sprites Back to my garden on silvery nights Bathed in a half moon’s glow. |
