Reflecting Nature: Reflecting Spirit

Cathi Jefferson, creator of salt fired stoneware for more than thirty years, new resident to the Cowichan Valley, and member of the newly-formed Cowichan Valley Artisans (CVA), is being honoured on September 27th with a prestigious BC Creative Achievement Award. She is one of only three artists being recognized as recipients of this year's juried awards. (see bcachievement.com)
Her important installation work, "Reflecting Nature: Reflecting Spirit", partially funded by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and three years in the making, will be shown at the Cowichan Valley Arts Council (CVAC) Arts Centre Gallery, 2 - 139 Station Street, from Friday, September 10th. The public reception is scheduled for September 16th (4:00 to 8:00 p.m.).
The very large, diverse display including mixed media, projected images and printed banners as well as her incredible stoneware sculptures, has been shown on only one other occasion in 2007 at the Seymour Art Gallery in North Vancouver.

Cathi has generously donated a piece of her functional sculpture to raffle during the show. This is in aid of the local arts council. Tickets may be purchased from CVAC members or at the Arts Centre Gallery. Tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.
