The work represents the starting point for nine grade 11 and 12 secondary students, who have been recommended by their schools for this program. The show will be followed by a group critique and professional workshop experience. The students will then have the opportunity to put a new piece of their work into the 42nd annual Cowichan Valley Fine Arts Show in April, 2012.

Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to write feedback comments to the young artists.

The PORTALS goal is to be an inspiring "go to" place in which CVAC members and guests share local, regional and national arts, culture and heritage information and experiences with residents of the entire Cowichan Valley. Focused on creative excellence and best practice, PORTALS showcases the integration of all types of creative and artistic genres and highlights both the Cowichan Valley Arts Council members and the community at large.

PORTALS has several ways for everyone to get involved. Art supporters can come enjoy the shows, displays, and events offered on a weekly basis. Artists can use the space to host seminars, workshops, display art, or simply stop by to meet with our host of volunteers to keep updated on what's going on.
