Linda Richter

 Profile of an Artist
Profile of an Artist Linda Richter

~ By Longevity John Falkner

There have been people with the ability through their works, as well as their lifestyle, to pull me right in, shake me, shape me, allow me to wander and wonder, to let me easily see their whimsical views of the world and then, to let me walk away, energized, knowing that they remain committed to being in the moment, communing with their chosen mediums on that wondrous soul full journey to that joyous aloneness they have known since they could remember. They are not attention seekers, driven by sales, nor are they independently wealthy... they have made the room for their passion in their everyday life.

And as they say, they couldn't escape if they wanted to.

One such person is Linda Richter.

She has made me search for my own clarity of intent since our paths crossed some 18 years ago, connecting through the arts council of the day, I might add.

This artist is driven and I went to talk to that driver.

  • When did you start giving in to the impulse to create?

    Since I can remember.

  • When did you notice that you could suspend time with your chosen medium?

    After I started having children.

  • How much do you let life get in the way of the/ your creative process?

Same package, it is what I do 24/7/ 365.

  • In a 24 hr day are there times you won’t work?

Creativity is a lifestyle; if I had to work to go there I am not so sure I would go.

  • Or is there time specifically spent calling on the creative gods to be on your side?

Again lifestyle, observations in the moment... it never appears to be a time thing.

  • Where do you go to so as to gain the strength to ignore the logic that defies what it is you do?

    Nature, it is always giving.

  • Do your children grasp your intentions?

    They do now.

  • Do your grandchildren grasp your intentions?

Oh yeah. They are not so much in awe cause they are still there. They have observations that redefine our view of maturity not to mention reality.

  • What is your favourite colour?

... ahhhhg!!!!!... it is then she attempted to strangle me.

She remains one of the treats/mentors in my life.
