Patience

The old lady sat in her ancient canoe,
she breathed in the scent of the sea.
The sulphury smell assaulted her bones
and they complained painfully.

Her body moaned to her one old song,
but her soul sang in another space.
Her spirit searched for needed rest in a higher, more final mooring place.

She had watched the tide of time
creep slowly up life's beach.
Tired eyes were closing softly,
Peace, at last, within her reach.
