Sharon Tilton UrdahlWintering Swans
Feathered shadows in flight, fleeing images are mirrored on fallow fields still edged with winter's frosty lace. With noisy clamour, sporadic honking, lead trumpeters call... urge their sleepy mates whose nodding heads are tucked in resting wings. From dry reed beds they slowly rise, circle gracefully upward to join the rest. Together, in closed formation their journey north begins. Beneath frigid ground, restless spring nudges the moving birds onward. An impatient landlady waiting, she quickly reclaims the fertile refuge, from wintering Trumpeter Swans. |
