Margaret Cox
Farms, fields and forests lie Under a canopy of sky; A cow barn like a wooden church Points up its silo tower high. Village crossroads, railroad track, Post office, pub and cenotaph, Farmers' Hall of '29, Wooden building, classic line. On Merridale the cider works Press apples from the orchard trees, And in the vineyards every fall Good grapes provide new wine for all. I like to live in Cobble Hill Where country quiet makes all still; And woodsy paths are there to walk For silent thoughts or friendly talk. |
