Linda Yurgensen

Linda is a contemporary still life artist living on Vancouver Island who paints primarily in acrylics and oil. Having grown up in Nova Scotia in an artistic family, she learned very early on that she had a love for art. Always drawing as a child she advanced to painting as a young adult but with the responsibilities of a growing family put art aside until just five years ago. Since that time, Linda has been growing as an artist. She has found her love to be in still life. Light, color and composition are all vital elements in her work.

The process of putting objects together to form a pleasing composition is very rewarding. But to see that vision come together in a painting is what makes the whole process worth the effort. Linda paints in many layers of thin paint. Watching the painting evolve over time is very exciting but also ver time consuming. On average a painting may take several weeks to complete. Due to the long periods of drying required for oil, she may have as many as four paintings on easels in various stages of completion at one time. This keeps the painting process fresh and exciting for her.

Linda's desire for her paintings is to make the viewer pause and remember a simpler moment in time.
