What Do Eagles See?

Artist: Jan de Bree
Artist: Jan de Bree
What do the eagles see as they circle in the sky
gliding on the thermals from below.
Do they see the clear-cut and the disappearing stream
where salmon used to race against the flow.
Mother earth is weeping with tears of acid rain
unless we give her love we all may die
what then the empty water and the giant cedars none
and the eagles gone to leave a soulless sky.
Change change before the horses ride
the horses of apocalypse are nigh
with flood fire and tempest they will race across the land
unless the eagles circle in the sky.
Let the seals remain unbroken and the horses be confined
for mother god has spoken, for the good of all mankind.
Let the riders be unmounted and their weapons be disarmed
may (let) the debtors be accounted and the planet be unharmed
the sands of time are running, running through the glass
we have the choice to make but now, before it comes to pass.
Let the eagles fly, circling far above, let them see the forrest,
and the salmon leap again.
Planet earth is waiting, waiting for our love.
Planet earth is waiting for our love.
